October 19, 2012
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Human Factors program director Daniel McGehee was featured on the Iowa Public Radio talk show, "River to River" Friday, October 16. McGehee spoke with host Ben Kieffer about his recent research project that will attempt to save lives by training Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel with a new mobile app that will take photos of crashed vehicles and send them to hospital emergency personnel within 30 seconds. Researchers will also train ER staff to interpret likely injuries based on the angle of impact and 'crush' (how much the vehicle is crumpled) imagery.

The program segment features various Iowans who are attributing to the creation of mobile and tablet apps. The show can be heard on an online stream found at Iowa Public Radio's website.
