Environmental policy researcher, Scott Spak, co-presented at the Iowa Environmental Health Association's Fall Conference with Douglas Beardsley, the director of Johnson County Public Health and the Associate Director of Environmental Health Programs at the State Hygienic Laboratory. The conference was held in Marshalltown, IA at the Best Western Regency Inn.

The presentation titled, "Where There's Smoke, There's Work to Do: Addressing the Air Quality and Health Concerns from the Iowa City Landfill Fire" discussed this past May's Iowa City landfill fire that burned for nearly two weeks and caused the Johnson County Health Department to issue health precautions for the region.
