    ISRC Workshop: Introduction to Dynamic Documents in R and Stata

    This workshop will provide an introduction to creating dynamic documents. Dynamic documents are files that combine text and statistical code in the same file This workshop will cover how to create web pages, Word documents, and pdf documents featuring an integration of statistical code and text in the same R or Stata file. We assume that participants have a basic familiarity with R and Stata. Example code will be provided.

    The PPC is proud to co-sponsor Prompt for the Planet, a special edition of The Green Room. The first-ever Youth Poet Laureate of the United States of America, Amanda Gorman, has developed an initiative directed at 15-25 year-olds. With the hope of uniting the voices of young people far and wide, Amanda has created a prompt to activate her generation through poetry, art, photography, etc.

    RELAX: TALK: GROW (RTG) is a networking/policy planning event hosted by the University of Iowa African American Council and the Public Policy Center. RTG combines fellowship, local artists and policy discussions. Addressing the experiences of Iowa City’s black folks both on and off campus, the  runs from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at the Englert Theatre, and features a blend of relaxed socializing, creative performance and targeted conversation. The topic of this month's event is "Keeping Cultural Events Fresh."     The Public Policy Center is proud to co-sponsor this lecture by Ellen Stofan, Chief Scientist for NASA.

    Ellen Stofan helped demolish barriers for women in science while working at the very frontiers of tech. In talks, she argues for greater diversity in the STEM fields, demonstrates why space exploration is crucial for innovation, and shows why studying our nearby planets is key to combating climate change here on Earth.
