This symposium brought together national experts from a wide range of disciplines who addressed a variety of topics related to flooding. Speakers included: academics from engineering, geography, urban and regional planning, sociology, and public health; people impacted by the recent Iowa flooding including business owners and flood victims; federal legislative representatives, insurance representatives, community planners, interest and trade groups, and the Army Corps of Engineers, among others.

This Forkenbrock Series Symposium focused on the urgent need for well-formulated policy responses to address the housing foreclosure crisis. Invited speakers included leading scholars from diverse fields such as business, economics, government affairs and urban planning, as well as leaders of government agencies, financial institutions and non-profit agencies.

The Transportation Finance and Economics: Policy Options for the Future symposium was held on September 11-12, 2008, in Iowa City, IA. This symposium brought together national experts in many aspects of Transportation Policy from highways and transit to the externalities of transportation such as land use and equity. 170 people participated in interdisciplinary discussions concerning timely issues such as the upcoming reauthorization of the Federal Transportation Bill.
