Peter DamianoDirector, Public Policy Center Preventive and Community Dentistry University of Iowa
Peter Damiano is the Director of the Public Policy Center (PPC) and Professor, Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry at the University of Iowa. He started the health policy research program at the PPC in 1990 and has been Director of the Center since July 2007. He is a health services researcher who investigates issues relating to access to care, quality, cost and outcomes of care. Dr. Damiano has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and research monographs and has been the principal investigator on over 50 research studies funded by federal, state and Foundation sources. He is a former staff intern in the US Senate, a Robert Wood Johnson Dental Health Services Research Scholar and HRSA Primary Care Policy Fellow. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (DDS) and UCLA School of Public Health (MPH).
Ron PollackExecutive Director, Families USA
Ron Pollack is the Founding Executive Director of Families USA, a national organization that seeks to achieve high quality, affordable health coverage for all Americans. Families USA’s research is often cited by congress, state legislatures, and other policy makers. In 1997, Mr. Pollack was appointed by President Clinton as the sole consumer representative on the Presidential Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry. He received the “Common Ground” co-award for his work helping ideologically diverse health organizations reach an historic consensus about expanded health coverage for the uninsured. Mr. Pollack has been a guest on The PBS NewsHour, NBC's Today show, and ABC's Good Morning America. He has been named one of the nine top nonprofit lobbyists by The Hill, and one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Health Care by Modern Healthcare. Previously, Mr. Pollack served as Dean of the Antioch School of Law. He received his law degree from New York University.
Jim FrogueVice President and Director of State Policy, Center for Health Transformation
Jim Frogue’s primary areas of focus are Medicaid, fraud and consumerism. Previously, he served as Director of the Health and Human Services Task Force at the American Legislative Exchange Council to develop and disseminate market-oriented health policies among state legislators from 45 states. Mr. Frogue has served three Members of Congress, most recently as Legislative Director for Congresswoman Kay Granger of Texas. He also spent two years as the healthcare policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, and was appointed by Speaker William J. Howell to the Virginia Council on Human Resources. Mr. Frogue has appeared on Fox News, the Fox Business Channel, and ABC’s Good Morning America, as well as on countless radio shows. His op-eds have appeared in The Hill, Chicago Sun Times, and the Washington Times, among many others. He is editor of the book Stop Paying the Crooks. Mr. Frogue holds a MA from Cambridge University and a BA from the University of Southern California.
