Wonk Wednesdays: Mr. Cwiertny Goes to Washington

September 20, 2017
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Iowa City Public Library, Meeting Room A

Join the University of Iowa Public Policy Center (PPC) as we present a new, community-focused series of events. Each month we will present a policy topic from our various research areas, in a variety of formats. These events are free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, we will focus on environmental policy. Dave Cwiertny, director of the PPC's Environmental Policy Research Program and associate professor of civil and environmental engineering in the UI College of Engineering, will talk about his year in Washington, D.C., serving as a staff member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

All Wonk Wednesdays take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in Iowa City Public Library Meeting Room A.

Future Wonk Wednesday dates:

Wednesday, October 18 - Understanding Immigration Policy During the Trump Era

Wednesday, November 15 - Repeal, Replace, or Repair?

The Forkenbrock Series provides a forum for dialogue about policy areas from applied, academic, and interdisciplinary perspectives. The series was established in honor of David Forkenbrock, a nationally recognized transportation researcher. Dr. Forkenbrock established the Public Policy Center at the University of Iowa in 1987 and directed the Center until 2007. His vision was to enable public and private sector decision makers to work with faculty, staff, and student researchers to explore solutions to complex problems related to the public interest.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Dragana Petic at dragana-petic@uiowa.edu.
