The Iowa Child and Family Household Health Survey (HHS) is a comprehensive statewide study of the access to care, health status and social environment of children in Iowa. The HHS has been conducted twice so far-in 2000 and in 2005. The goal of the study is to provide policymakers with population-based information about many issues facing the state and the nation. Each study included special foci in addition to general questions. In both 2000 and 2005, the focus was on the results for all children statewide as well as on insurance coverage, and health disparities. In 2000, there were also evaluations of issues for children in each of eight different regions of the state as well as for children with special health care needs. In 2005, there was additional emphasis on early childhood issues, and nutrition and exercise.
