Driving Teens Distracted

A recent survey by Beth Westlake, a PPC student researcher who is pursuing an MS in Urban and Regional Planning at the UI, has found that teens are aware that activities like texting or playing with an iPod while driving are dangerous, but that they continue to do them anyway. Most teens surveyed were "overconfident in their ability to multitask," Westlake observed. A new law passed this month will make it illegal to text and drive.
