Road User Study Featured in Forbes Article

Paul Hanley, Director of the Transportation Policy program, recently discussed the PPC Road User Study with Forbes magazine's Jeff McMahon. The article, Will American Paranoia Stifle Road Repairs? looked at the potential, explored in the study, to pay for roads by charging users according to the miles they travel, instead of by the gas tax. In the study, researchers outfitted about 2,500 vehicles with GPS devices that recorded vehicles' mileage in road-maintenance jurisdictions. Hanley noted that privacy issues continued to be a major obstacle to user acceptance.
