Book Examines Effects of Consumer Debt

UI College of Law professor, Katie Porter, recently published Broke: How Debt Bankrupts the Middle Class, which features a chapter by ISRC Director, Kevin Leicht. The book is the end product of a 2008 Obermann Summer Seminar that brought UI scholars from several disciplines together to talk about consumer debt. Leicht’s chapter addresses the question of whether Americans’ increased access to credit reflects economic growth or masks financial security of American families.
