District pinpoints areas to improve school climate

The Social and Education Policy Research Program, which the Iowa City Community School District is partnering with on equity work, identified three key areas for the district to focus on: students' relationships with teachers and mentors, inclusive school environments and disciplinary environments. The center suggested new programs and practices to address racial, socioeconomic and gender disparities.

The policy center provided recommendations and discussed options with the Iowa City Community School Board at its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 9.
