Body

David Frisvold, PPC Scholar-in-Residence and associate professor in the Department of Economics, will participate in a work shop at Iowa State University, "Federal Statistical Research Data Centers: Opportunities for Researchers to Use Restricted Access Data," on Thursday, March 30. Frisvold will present "Health Economics Research in the RDC."

Restricted data are non-public data collected by U.S. Census Bureau and other government agencies that contain information that could compromise the confidentiality of survey respondents or institutions, or is sensitive by nature. Projects using restricted access data regularly appear in top-tier academic publications and have spurred subsequent research using administrative datasets from other countries. The day-long workshop will feature several speakers from Iowa State and surrounding institutions about how these data can be used by faculty in the social sciences. Registration is available online

Jacinta Fillinger, data coordinator at the Iowa Social Science Research Center, will also participate in the workshop.
