Bio

Sally J. Scott is a community and organizational development consultant in Baltimore, Maryland. She lived in Iowa City from 2011 through July 2017, where she worked for the UI Public Policy Center, and then founded the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition. The Coalition successfully advocated for increased resources and effective policies for affordable housing in Iowa City and Johnson County. Scott consulted for INVEST Health Iowa City, a planning process funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Reinvestment Fund to better integrate community development and health improvements at the neighborhood level. She also taught courses on community development (UI Center for Human Rights) and community organizing (UI School of Social Work). Scott previously worked in Baltimore, where she developed collaborative initiatives to revitalize neighborhoods at risk of decline, mitigate the impact of foreclosure on lower income families, and create a statewide network of community development practitioners.
