Human Factors and Connected Vehicles

Sponsor: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration The US Department of Transportation is conducting a major initiative aimed at increasing the connectivity between vehicles and roadways across the nation. The program is working toward a future in which roads and cars work seamlessly together to eliminate crashes altogether. The PPC HF Program's role in this initiative is to develop test procedures that can be used to assess the distraction potential and usability of devices already installed in vehicles now being sold, as well as those that drivers bring with them into their cars. The research team will also provide guidelines for interpretation and decision-making about the outcomes of these tests.
