The University of Iowa has designated 2011-12 as the "Year of Political Discourse." The goal is to take advantage of the heightened political atmosphere of the national election to emphasize the importance of reasonable discussion to the urgent issues of our time, particularly as they apply to the University environment. Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Caucus status is something its citizens take very seriously. As a result, people are particularly attuned this year to politics in all its many forms. An expectation of reasonable political discourse is critically important if the results of University research are to be used to inform policy. This forum will feature events from around campus that relate to political discourse.
