Legal Aspects of Autonomous Driving

The University of Iowa Public Policy Center and The National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS) will be hosting a lecture titled "Legal Aspects of Autonomous Driving: Strategies for encouraging vehicle automation that have little to do with vehicle automation..." Vehicle automation encompasses a broad range of technologies, applications, and business cases.  This talk will discuss likely deployment scenarios and identify steps that governments at each level might take to support these scenarios. 

The lecture will be given by Bryant Walker Smith, assistant professor in the School of Law and in the School of Engineering at the University of South Carolina.  Smith is also affiliate scholar at the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School, chair of the Emerging Technology Law Committee of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, and a member of the New York Bar.
