PPC Director Pete Damiano taught an eight hour class on health care and health care reform as part of the Senior College. Topics covered included: organization and financing of health care in the U.S., international health system comparison, principles of insurance-public and private, health care reform and the Accountable Care Act.

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich kicked off the Public Policy Center's fall semester for the Forkenbrock Series and give the University of Iowa Lecture Committee's Distinguished Lecture for 2010-2011.

The University of Iowa designated 2011-12 as the "Year of Political Discourse." The goal was to take advantage of the heightened political atmosphere of the national election to emphasize the importance of reasonable discussion to the urgent issues of our time, particularly as they apply to the University environment.

This two-day symposium provided a forum for dialogue about new energy opportunities being created in response to the growing challenge of climate change. The event featured national experts from an array of backgrounds including engineers, industry representatives, policymakers, economists, and agriculture experts. Topics covered included the state of the science, economic impacts, renewable energy, energy efficiency, agricultural issues, and policy responses at the local, state, and federal levels.
