Renewable Energy Planner Iowa Office of Energy Independence

Greg Watkins joined the Iowa Office of Energy Independence (OEI) in 2008 as the Renewable Energy Planner. Mr. Watkins is the OEI’s lead staff on renewable energy and transmission issues. He develops policy and programs to support clean energy initiatives. Additionally, Mr. Watkins collaborates with agencies at the state, regional, and federal levels to develop climate change solutions beneficial to Iowa. He holds an undergraduate degree from Providence College and a MS from California Polytechnic State University, where he focused on sustainable policy. Research there included the economic development implications of renewable energy. After graduation, Mr. Watkins accepted a fellowship in Washington, DCs, researching international biofuel trade. He also worked there as a consultant.
