Statistical and Software Consulting

The Iowa Social Science Research Center offers statistical and data consulting in addition to its data collection and grant support activities. Consulting services are currently free of charge for the first hour. For longer or ongoing consultations we charge about $30 per hour.

Our staff and consultants can help faculty and graduate students with basic questions about data collection and entry, a variety of basic and advanced statistical techniques, and a few software packages (see list below) for research or teaching needs. If you'd like to ask them to visit a class or do a workshop, please let me know. We already have introductory workshops on Stata, R, ArGIS, and Python ready to go. The list of upcoming workshops is available here.

The purpose of our consulting service is to help users get advice about data, software, and analysis that they may not be familiar with so that they can implement it on their own.

If you would like to use this service, please send an email to isrc-info@uiowa.edu with a brief outline of what you need help with. Drop in hours with Mike Oie are Mondays, 3:00 - 4:00pm and Thursdaysm 10:00am - 12:00pm.
