Cattle Preferences and Ecosystem Outcomes

This study investigates the role of grazing behavior on ecosystem outcomes within a general equilibrium ecosystem model.

Different strains of the rangeland literature make different assumptions about the role of cattle behavior, optimal foraging, satiation grazing and proportional grazing. Using an ecosystem model calibrate to an intermountain west ecosystem, we investigate the long-range impacts of alternative grazing behavior on ecosystem outcomes.
