Human Factors Awarded AAA Foundation Grant

Body

Our Human Factors and Vehicle Safety program received a grant from the American Automobile Association (AAA) Foundation.

With the grant, our Human Factors researchers will study crash causation by naturalistic observation — the driving behavior of road users in a natural setting for a long period of time. DriveCam recorders will be placed in cars to record the driver during extreme events such as avoidence of potential crash situations and impact incidents. With this footage, our researchers will be able to piece together possible answers as to what causes car crashes and how to possibly prevent them in the future.

It was a very competitive award, where they succeeded over stiff competition.
