Colin Gordon Helps Lead UI to 2015 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification

Body

Colin Gordon, professor of history at the University of Iowa and researcher with the PPC, helped lead the University of Iowa to its 2015 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification. The University of Iowa has been designated for the first time, and joins 239 other higher-education institutions across the nation for this year’s honor.

The classification, awarded every five years, is the highest standard of recognition for community engagement efforts at institutions of higher education.  Professor Gordon, along with Linda Snetselaar, Associate Provost for Outreach and Engagement, prepared the extensive application that highlighted the remarkable range of work being done by UI faculty, staff, and students, as well as the commitment that the university has made to community engagement.
