The Des Moines Register published an article announcing a new series called, “Black Iowa: Still Unequal?” that referenced a Public Policy Center report, “Health Disparities Among Children in Iowa.”  The series will explore different issues—one being health—to highlight and discuss racial disparities in Iowa today.

The “Health Disparities Among Children in Iowa” report presents data from the 2010 Iowa Child and Family Household Health Survey (IHHS) and explores racial and ethnic health gaps for children in Iowa.  The IHHS was a collective effort between the Iowa Department of Public Health, the University of Iowa Public Policy Center, and the Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinics.  The purpose of the IHHS was to measure the health and wellbeing of the children and families in the state of Iowa.
