'Reuters Health' Highlights IHHS

Reuters Health interviewed Dr. Astha Singhal in an article highlighting the PPC’s Iowa Child and Family Household Health Survey (IHHS). Singhal, a former research assistant in the Health Policy program, is an assistant professor at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

The IHHS—completed in 2010—evaluated the health status, access to health care, and social environment of children and families across Iowa.  One of the major findings from the IHHS, which Singhal emphasized in the article, was the rate of parents who took their child to an ED and believed it could have been avoided if primary care had been readily available at the time.
