PPC students recognized in 2018 Dare to Discover campaign

Body

Two PPC student researchers, Jen Sukalski and Kayla Faust, are featured in this year's Dare to Discover banner series, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President of Research and Economic Development (OVPR&ED). Each year, the banner campaign spotlights researchers and scholars by featuring them on banners displayed throughout downtown Iowa City and campus, and on the OVPR&ED website.

Sukalski is a 2021 PhD candidate in Oral Sciences with an emphasis on Dental Public Health and Health Policy. Her research focuses on the effects of health care reform on overall health, dental health, and access to care. Her faculty mentor/advisor is Dr. Susan McKernan, assistant professor, Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry, and PPC Health Policy Program researcher. See Sukalski's profile here.

Faust is a 2019 PhD candidate in Occupational and Environmental Health with a focus on Occupational Injury Prevention. Her research examines driving performance using a new, pc-based tractor driving simulator among farmers. Her faculty mentor/advisor is Carri Casteel, associate professor in the College of Public Health’s Occupational and Environmental Health department, and Daniel McGehee, associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and director of the National Advanced Driving Simulator. See Faust's profile here.

Also featured in the campaign is Alison Momany, daughter of the PPC's assistant director and associate research scientist of the Health Policy Research program, Betsy Momany.

The banners will be displayed downtown and in the Old Capitol Mall/University Capitol Centre (UCC). They’ll remain up about six weeks before being installed throughout the Old Capitol Mall through the end of the spring semester.
