Prince Receives NIH Award

Body

With support from the Iowa Social Science Research Center (ISRC), Anya Prince, associate professor of Law, received an award of $485,700 from the National Institute of Health, entitled Beyond the Medical: The ELSI of Polygenic Scores for Social Traits.

The term ELSI stands for Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of research, also the name of the program within the NIH National Human Genome Research Institute that’s funding the project. Prince’s research interests include genomic testing with particular focus on genetic discrimination and privacy rights, use of big data and algorithms, and insurance coverage of genetic technologies and interventions.

The ISRC provides grant support, plus many other services for researchers on campus. Check out our website, or contact us at isrc-info@uiowa.edu.
