Andrew Ghattas is a research assistant with the Health Policy Research Program at the University of Iowa Public Policy Center, and currently works with Elizabeth Momany and Natoshia Askelson. He is a fifth-year graduate student in the biostatistics department in the UI College of Public Health. Andrew received his masters degree from the statistics and actuarial science department in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. For his masters thesis, he worked with Dr. Joyee Ghosh on Bayesian Variable Selection; the research was polished and eventually published in The American Statistician. Currently Andrew is taking elective classes and working on his dissertation research; his field of study is statistical application to medical imaging, mainly in the validation of semi-automated algorithms which identify the margins of structures such as tumors and lung nodules.
