Bio

Dr. Kling is a Professor of Economics at Iowa State University and Head of the Resource and Environmental Policy Division of the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, where she directs interdisciplinary research on policy design and incentives for the provision of ecosystem services from agriculture (including carbon sequestration and water quality). She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland and taught at the University of California, Davis. She has published on a range of environmental economics topics including the valuation of environmental services, the design of carbon markets for agriculture, nutrient trading, and incentives for the adoption of conservation practices. Dr. Kling is a Fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association and serves on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and The Nature Conservancy, among others.
