Bio

 Jan Laue was elected President of the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans in July 2012.  She retired as Secretary-Treasurer of the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, in January of 2012.  Laue was elected IFL Secretary-Treasurer in 2008, and served as IFL Executive Vice President from 1993-2008.  Laue is a member of BCTGM Local 48G.


Laue has been a member of BCTGM since 1976, when she first started working at the Sara Lee Bakery in New Hampton, Iowa, and joined what was then BCT Local 417.  While there, she was elected Steward, and then Business Agent.  Laue has a B.A. from UNI and in 1992, was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Iowa Labor Center. She was an IFL Auditor from 1988-1990, and an IFL Executive Board Member at Large from 1990-1993.  She has two sons, two daughters, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


In addition to the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO Executive Council and the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans, Laue’s current activities include:
