Title & Affiliation
Executive Director Iowa Public Health Association
Bio

Lina became an active member of IPHA upon moving to Iowa in 2013. "I knew that if I wanted to be a part of the public health community in Iowa, I needed to join IPHA," Lina shared with members at the 2019 Awards Reception when she was introduced as the new Executive Director.

Lina began her career in public health as an Americorps*VISTA volunteer, working as a community organizer in Minneapolis, with a focus on school readiness. This experience started her on a path of recognizing that where we live, work, play, and age affects our health.

Following her graduate education, Lina was the legislative liaison for tobacco control at the MN Department of Health. That work opened doors for her to move to Geneva, Switzerland and spend seven years at the World Health Organization, where she focused on strategic planning, communication, and health equity.

Since returning to the US, Lina has spent her time consulting on various public health projects ranging from social protection, global health system development, and maternal/child health, always with a focus on health equity.
