Shane Hubbard

Bio

Shane Hubbard is a student at the University of Iowa pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography. Previously, Mr. Hubbard was a GIS Analyst and instructor at The Polis Center at Indiana University, Purdue University, Indianapolis. While at the Polis Center he was involved in projects principally relating to pre-disaster mitigation and emergency management. He has a B.S. in Geography from Indiana University, and received his M.S. in atmospheric science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Mr. Hubbard worked in the response and recovery division at Wisconsin Emergency Management for 3 years, and has served as a hazard mitigation planner and reviewed hazard mitigation plans submitted by local governments. Currently, he is involved with FEMA’s HAZUS-MH program, including ongoing participation as a FEMA instructor for introductory through advanced courses. During the Midwest flooding in the spring of 2008, he used HAZUS-MH before, during, and after the event to assess the economic impacts of the flood.
