Focused Interdisciplinary Research Exchange (FIRE)

September 28, 2012
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
200 South Quadrangle

The purpose of the FIRE sessions was to acquaint ourselves with a broad a range of the campus-wide human factors-related research. We also hoped to generate new interdisciplinary collaborations and to explore/discuss new funding opportunities.

A brown bag lunch was held on Sept 29 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. in the seminar room in the Policy Center (200 South Quad) for a 90-minute FIRE meeting. Faculty, staff and students may present current research in condensed, (strict) three-minute, three-slide presentations—or present a haiku on your research. We challenge you to beat the buzzer. There will be 10-15 presentations per FIRE session, followed by a 40-minute discussion on where the research presented might fit with other campus research activities.

Presentations need not be from funded activities and can cover intellectual interests that may be in search of funding or collaborators.

If you are interested in presenting, please email your presentation title(s) to daniel-mcgehee@uiowa.edu. Students are encouraged to take this opportunity to present and get their research heard.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Dragana Petic at dragana-petic@uiowa.edu.
