How Prosperous is Iowa? Presentation on the US Prosperity Index

April 27, 2020
3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
2117 Medical Education Research Facility (MERF)

Representatives of the Legatum Institute will present information on the U.S. Prosperity Index. A reception will follow in the MERF Atrium.

The Legatum Institute is a London-based think tank that developed the United States Prosperity Index last year to holistically measure the economic and social wellbeing of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. They partnered with the American Enterprise Institute and the Brookings Institution to launch their first Index in Washington, D.C. last July. The purpose of the index is to serve as a source of key data and trends, including on the state of Iowa and the counties of Iowa, and ultimately help policy-makers and business leaders make decisions that improve the prosperity of all Americans.

The Forkenbrock Series provides a forum for dialogue about policy areas from applied, academic, and interdisciplinary perspectives. The series was established in honor of David Forkenbrock, a nationally recognized transportation researcher. Dr. Forkenbrock established the Public Policy Center at the University of Iowa in 1987 and directed the Center until 2007. His vision was to enable public and private sector decision makers to work with faculty, staff, and student researchers to explore solutions to complex problems related to the public interest.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Dragana Petic at dragana-petic@uiowa.edu.
