    ISRC Workshop: Introduction to Stata

    This workshop aims to cover a basic introduction to Stata. Participants will be introduced to the Stata interface, command syntax, do-files, and basic functions (e.g., opening a dataset, summary statistics, etc.). In addition, participants will also learn how to manage single and multiple datasets. This is an introductory workshop appropriate for those with limited or no familiarity with Stata. Example code will be provided.

    Mr. Astrit Zemaj, the Deputy Director General of the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with Mr. Bujar Maxhuni, Minister Counselor with the Department for NATO and Security within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are visiting the state of Iowa and the Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo located in Des Moines. While they are in Iowa the will be presenting perspectives on Kosovo history and its national security to a general audience at the University of Iowa.

    This introductory class will cover the basic elements in Python data analytics and provide hands-on practice. The topics to be covered include an introduction to data analytics and Python, Python basics for data analysis, and data preparation/exploration/visualization using widely used data analytics libraries in Python. Participants will also be able to learn how to take advantage of an interactive web-based data analytics environment called Jupyter Notebook. No prior experience in Python is necessary for this class.
