HF Program Director To Take Part In Driver Distraction Summit

Dan McGehee, PPC Director of the Human Factors and Vehicle Safety Research Program, has been invited by US Secretary of Transportation to participate in the first ever Driver Distraction Summit. Secretary Ray LaHood has invited a multidisciplinary group to discuss ideas to combat distracted driving—especially the growing problem of text-messaging behind the wheel. Over 200 safety experts, researchers, elected officials and others will gather in Washington, D.C. to share their experiences, provide feedback and develop recommendations for reducing the growing safety risk from distracted driving.
