Researchers in the Health Policy Program have an article titled, "Dentist Workforce Trends in a Primarily Rural State: Iowa: 1997-2007" that is appearing in the December issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association. The study describes the Iowa Dentist Tracking System, one of five professional tracking systems in Iowa. Since 1997, this system has collected demographic, educational, practice arrangement, office location, and work hour data for all active Iowa dentists. Such models may be useful in developing workforce policy. Raymond Kuthy, Susan McKernan, Jed Hand, and David Johnsen authored the paper.
