Students Lend a Hand to Help Women

According to a report in the Iowa City Press-Citizen, a gender and violence class taught by PPC Crime and Justice Program Director Karen Heimer has evolved into a project to help survivors of domestic violence. Students in the project, called "Provisions for Progress," collected daily necessities like detergent and light bulbs to create baskets for women looking to resettle in new homes after leaving abusive situations. According to Heimer, the goal was in part to "create a partnership between our classes at the university and our community."
