The PPC Human Factors & Vehicle Safety Program is now well into its third study of the effectiveness of putting cameras in cars to help newly independent teen drivers hone their skills. The evidence is clear: the technology reduces the number of unsafe driving events. Dr. Daniel McGehee, was recently interviewed by the New York Times regarding his research for an article titled, "In-Car Cameras Protect Teenage Drivers, Study Finds." According to Dr. McGehee, "cameras can have a powerful influence" on the behavior of the worst, most distracted teen drivers. “Teens are notorious for rationalizing their behavior,” says McGehee. “But they can’t argue with what the video is showing.”
