2010 Early Childhood Results

Body

The Early Childhood Report from the 2010 Iowa Child and Family Household Health Survey (IHHS) has been released. The IHHS is a comprehensive, statewide effort to evaluate the health status, access to health care, and social environment of children of children and families in Iowa.

Specific early childhood issues addressed in this report include: early childhood environment, medical home and access to health care, social determinants of health (neighborhood connectedness, food insecurity, and maternal well-being and parenting stress), development and assessment for children, and child care.

This survey has served as a model for the National Child Health Study in addition to informing about the LAUNCH project in Des Moines.

One can access a webinar that helps to further explain and elaborate on the methods and findings of the Early Childhood results, by principal investigator Dr. Peter Damiano. The video format of the webinar and PDF files of Dr. Damiano's slides can be found here.
