Social Media and the Public Domain

Body

In five short years, social media like Twitter and Facebook have changed the structure of the public domain. At the October's SSIG meeting, political science professor G.R. Boynton presents, "Voice and the Public Domain Becomes Co-Motion." His three years of research on the practice of politics on Twitter is the empirical base for showing how the structure of communication in our society has changed and what that portends.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 24, at noon in The Commons (302) of Schaeffer Hall. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch to the talk.

The University of Iowa Social Science Interdisciplinary Group (SSIG) is intended to stimulate conversation and collaboration among social scientists on campus. The SSIG currently sponsors a colloquium each month featuring a speaker from one of the social science disciplines around campus.
