2015 Iowa Parent School Breakfast Survey's Initial Findings Released

Body

According to a survey by researchers at the University of Iowa Public Policy Center, the University of Iowa College of Public Health, and Team Nutrition program staff at the Iowa Department of Education, participation in Iowa school breakfast programs remains low.

Over 8,000 Iowa parents of children in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 responded to the an online survey, which represents one component of a larger body of recent research related to school breakfast in the state of Iowa.

The study had three goals—1) to evaluate parents’ knowledge of the school breakfast program at their child’s school, 2) to determine parents’ perceptions of the school breakfast program in general, and 3) to identify general breakfast consumption behaviors of school-aged children.
