Changes in Iowa's Dental Workforce Examined

Body

A recent Public Policy Center study revealed some of the factors affecting Iowa's dental workforce, among them: an aging pool of dentists; more female dentists, who tend to work fewer hours and are less likely to practice in rural settings; and an attrition in the pool of dentists due to Iowans earning their degree in Iowa but then leaving to practice in other states.

The study is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) State Oral Health Workforce Program, and will result in a series of policy briefs.  To read more about the study and to access the briefs, click here.
