UI Students will Help Define Presidential Campaign

The Hawkeye Poll, which is coordinated by the University of Iowa Political Science Department and the Iowa Social Science Research Center (ISRC), will be running a poll across the state of Iowa next week from October 19 through October 25.

“The polls will deal with political topics; I won’t even say broadly speaking, but it’s mostly about the caucus, candidates, public policies, and so on,” said Professor Frederick Boehmke, the faculty adviser for the Hawkeye Poll.

The Hawkeye Poll is part of the teaching/learning mission of the University as well as a rigorously designed public opinion polling operation. The Poll provides a platform for academic research on political and public policy topics, including elections, policy issues, and attitudes and beliefs about Iowa and the national political/public policy environment. UI students get experience in survey research that connects to their academic work as they serve as trained callers and work with results in their classes.
