In self-steering race, GM maps new path with Super Cruise

Dan McGehee, Director of the PPC's Transportation and Vehicle Safety Policy Research Program and the University of Iowa's National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS), provided perspective recently in Consumer Reports magazine on autonomous driving in relation to Super Cruise, a new General Motors feature being included in the 2018 Cadillac CT6.  Super Cruise aims to enable hands-free driving on the highway through eye-tracking sensors.

McGehee, who is also an associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering in the UI College of Engineering, provided perspective on the new GM system and the fundamental idea of how much drivers are paying attention.
