Christopher Atchison, PPC researcher in the Health Policy Research Program, has been appointed to the Iowa State Board of Health by Governor Kim Reynolds. The state board of health is the primary policymaking body for the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and makes recommendations to the governor, general assembly, and IDPH director about public health, hygiene, and the environment.

“I am honored by this opportunity to serve public health in Iowa,” Atchison said. “There are many critical questions and challenges facing our health system, and the opportunity to contribute to our state policy is one I am looking forward to.”

There are a total of 11 individuals on the Board. Atchison began his three-year term on July 1.
