Iowa Students Have Unique Learning Opportunity in Hawkeye Poll

Body

Iowa Political Science students have a unique opportunity this year to learn about creating, conducting, and interpreting research surveys in the Hawkeye Poll class. The class is only offered during election years (every two years), and the results are often published nationally and sometimes even internationally.

The first phase of the course is focused on creating the surveys and phrasing questions to avoid accidental biases. The questions focus on Iowa politics, but also broadly touch on national issues. During the second phase of the project, the students work with the Iowa Social Science Research Center to make the survey calls.
