Sofia Iribarren

Sofia is a third-year pediatric dentistry and dental public health resident.

"My research interests involve access to care for vulnerable children. During training, I provided dental services to poor immigrant children who delayed dental care and suffered from dental pain because they could not afford treatment or were not eligible for Medicaid due to being undocumented. Immigrant families are working toward having a better life in the U.S., and it's an honor to provide and advocate for healthcare services that will set children up for a healthy and happy life."

Fun fact: Sofia loves coffee and grew up in Heredia, Costa Rica, one of the richest coffee-producing cities in the country.
