Bio

Dr. Herndon is currently working with Dr. Peter Damiano and Dr. Julie Reynolds at the University of Iowa Public Policy Center on the Patient-Centered Dental Home Project.  She is an economist with extensive experience in research, policy analysis, program evaluation, project management, and education. She works with non-profit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions on projects focused on measuring and evaluating  health care delivery system performance.

Dr. Herndon’s technical experience includes study design, survey research, analyses of large administrative datasets, Delphi consensus processes, and healthcare quality measurement.  She led the testing efforts for the initial Dental Quality Alliance oral health care quality measurement sets to establish measure feasibility, reliability, and validity; served as principal investigator on NIH/NIDCR-funded research; and led policy and external quality review evaluations for the State of Florida’s Children’s Health Insurance Program.  

Dr. Herndon’s research has been published in a broad range of journals in the social and medical sciences, and she is an elected member of the Society of Pediatric Research.  She’s successfully secured grant funding from federal, state and private agencies; authored and co-authored more than 100 journal articles and technical reports; and delivered more than 100 presentations for a wide range of audiences.
