H.S. "Uday" Udaykumar

Udaykumar received a BTech in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Chennai) and MS and PhD degrees from the University of Florida. He has published over 130 journal papers in varied topic areas of biomedical and mechanical engineering. He has been supported by grants from NSF, Whitaker Foundation Biomedical Engineering Grant, NIH, VA Research grants and multiple concurrent grants from various DoD agencies. Udaykumar’s research group consists of a mix of research scientists, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students working together on a variety of computational physics problems, spanning the dynamics of blood cells to droplets burning in rocket motors. He has mentored graduate students who went on to diverse careers, including to the finance sector, medical practice and entrepreneurship, along with traditional engineering research and teaching positions. He is a past recipient of the College Teaching Award (2002) and the College Research Excellence Award (2016). He is a frequent presenter on climate and environmental issues in various public forums.
