Effects of Foreclosure Counseling

Drs. Jerry Anthony and Thomas Verghese (CCCS of Atlanta) will present a paper on the effects of foreclosure prevention counseling. Data for the analysis was drawn from a national sample of 1,700 households facing foreclosure. Findings indicate that the benefits of counseling are underestimated, and that good counseling can forestall or postpone foreclosure action. The paper will be presented at this year's annual conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning in Crystal City, Virginia.
